Gibson Custom Shop 1960 Hummingbird Reissue Heavy Aged Heritage Cherry Sunburst

The Hummingbird Reimagined for Today's Players

A legend reborn. Gibson's 1960 Hummingbird—the first square-shoulder acoustic to reshape the instrument landscape—returns through the Custom Shop's Murphy Lab with the weight of six decades of tone and character packed into a newly crafted instrument.

This isn't a reproduction. It's a bridge between eras. The thermally aged Sitka spruce top pairs with hand-scalloped X-bracing to deliver warm, balanced acoustic voice reminiscent of those early icons. A mahogany neck with traditional round profile and compound dovetail joint set in hot hide glue ensures the playability and sustain collectors prize.

Heritage details define every angle: Indian rosewood fretboard with mother of pearl parallelogram inlays, 24.75" scale, bone bridge and nut, the iconic cast Hummingbird pickguard, and gold Gotoh tuners with Keystone buttons. Multi-ply binding frames solid mahogany back and sides.

The Murphy Lab's master aging process delivers authentic wear patterns—heavy weather-checking, belt buckle impressions, light arm and neck wear—without decades of service risk. You get the soul of a vintage original with modern construction reliability and no six-figure price.

Includes Gibson's period-correct black hardshell case with goldenrod interior and certificate of authenticity. Own one of Gibson's most iconic acoustic designs, fully realized for the player who demands both legacy and assurance.
